ELF was delighted earlier in the year that the East Devon Artists for Charity (EDAC) had chosen it to benefit from two exhibitions, held at Branscombe and Seaton.
The EDAC, led by Ursula Pratt, has a long history of holding events for charity and choose a different one each year to support. Involving prominent and amateur local artists alike, they display their work and a proportion of any sales made is donated to charity. They also hold a raffle, tombola and charge a small entrance fee for the shows, all of which goes straight to the charity.
Branscombe village hall was the location of the first exhibition for ELF (pictured), held over the bank holiday in April. The beautiful location and the support of the local community made sure that the show was a great success.
Next to come was a large exhibition at Seaton town hall, which took place in the first week of June. Ursula Pratt, the organiser, took this grander scale in her stride and rallied volunteers from across the area to help set up the exhibition and to staff it in the following week.
The EDAC’s events raised over £8,000 for Exeter Leukaemia Fund. Peter Wallace, ELF’s Fundraiser had this to say “We are very grateful to the EDAC for raising this fantastic amount for ELF. I would like to thank Ursula and everyone else involved for holding such well organised and fun events and I wish them every success for future exhibitions”.
Friday June 9th, sun shining from cloudless skies, gardens a blaze of colour and the lake a mirror of the sky, as guests coming to the ELF Charity Ball were greeted with a glass of bubbly and canapés as they came through the walled garden gate. “What a fabulous setting” a regular ELF Ball goer exclaimed “how have you managed to follow on from Powderham”.
We would like to thank everyone who attended and more than £2,000 was raised from the
event.
