When the students of the Class of 1981 at Honiton Community College held a reunion last May they planned that the event should raise some money for charity. In memory of a former classmate, Simon Retter, of Monkton, who died of leukaemia as a teenager, they decided that money raised should go to the Exeter Leukaemia Fund. £353.90 was raised.
Two of the organisers of the event, Wendy Williams and Julie Garland, both of Honiton, remembered that their primary school Headmaster had been John Dalton who was the first Administrator of ELF and now a Trustee of the Charity they decided that they would like to renew old acquaintances and present the cheque to him. Wendy and Julie went along to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, talked over old times and made the presentation.
The two were then shown over the new Haematology Centre and ward by the current Chief Executive of the Exeter Leukaemia Fund, Malcolm Roker, who explained that this magnificent facility for the treatment of leukaemia and allied diseases had been built at the instigation of, and largely funded by ELF.
Shane James, Jamie Webb and Christopher Belcher are all fitness trainers at Exeter’s Clifton Hill Sports Centre and are planning to complete a 260 mile run in seven days in September from Land’s End to Exeter in aid of ELF and Sports Relief. To support their tremendous effort please call 01392 253353 and sponsor them!!

We are creating a database of volunteers, could we add you name? If so please telephone the ELF Office - 01392 493344. We would then contact you when requiring volunteers for certain events, you would be under no obligation, if you can give us just a couple of hours at one event a year it would be a great help - THANK YOU.
VOLUNTEERING IS FUN
