At our last meeting we were pleased to welcome Mrs Jean Holden and we wish her well in her role as our new Secretary.

We extend our thanks to friends who have sent us donations and also to Dorothy Eastop who is in charge of the ELF collecting tins in our area. She reported that the little elves have yielded £314 in the past year. Well Done!

We’ve launched a novel initiative amongst our friends—Snowball Lunches or Suppers. A host invites a few friends for a meal who, in return, makes a small donation to Friends of Yarty. Then each guest hosts a meal and collects donations. Watch this space!

Our recent events, the ever popular & entertaining Bearnes Call My Bluff Antiques evening, our annual coffee morning at St Stephens Church - generously assisted by the Chelsea Building Society this year & the very enjoyable Car Treasure Hunt well thought out & organized by Ian & Hazel Reynolds, raised a combined figure of £850. Heartfelt thanks to all concerned.

Exeter Support groupPat & Francis Aldridge’s Annual Golf Day at Exeter Golf & Country Club raised the best ever amount of £7,500 - a huge undertaking & fantastic result. Another committee member, Gwen Irish is once again organising a Draw for a wonderful mariners compass design Mennonite Quilt. Those who would like to see the quilt & take part in the Draw should visit the Topsham Outdoor Craft Fair on Saturday 12th August - 1.30pm - 6.30pm or the Westpoint Stitches Fair—see separate leaflet. Craft items & seasonal produce would be appreciated for the craft sales later in the year at Matthews Hall, Topsham on 19th November & 10th

Yarty Friendship Group

yartyThe Yarty Friendship Group was formed in May 2001 with a initial membership of six, providing support for those who have been bereaved. We meet regularly providing an informal atmosphere enabling members to share experiences or simply to socialise. We also have some evening outings and day trips during the summer months. Last year we had a day out at the Seaton Tramways. Members have found this group to be very useful as we have all been through the same stages of bereavement and many good friends have been made. This is purely a social group and not a fund raising group.
