Donated money is spent on new equipment, facilities to make treatment more comfortable for both patients and carers and research into methods of managing and monitoring leukaemia and related blood diseases carried out at the hospital.
The winner of the ELF QPOD Draw was drawn by Captain Pete Curtis of the Royal Marines Band who played at the ELF Christmas Concert in December. The winner, Mark Regan, is pictured with the keys to the QPOD which were presented to him by Dr Richard Lee, Consultant Haematologist at the Haematology centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
“What a wonderful prize to win” said QPOD winner Mark Regan, he was “absolutely delighted to win the QPOD, especially as my brother bought me the ticket at the Bicton Horse Trials last April, to cheer me up following my divorce”. Mark lives in Cornwall.
The QPOD Draw ran from April when it was launched at the Bicton Horse Trials through to the Christmas Concert in December. “The QPOD has been a real attention grabber, just what we need when we are at the agricultural shows and other locations where ELF seeks to demonstrate just how many people are touched by leukaemia and how essential public support is to maintaining the Haematology Centre at the cutting edge for treatment, patient care and research.” Said Peter Wallace, ELF’s Fundraiser.
